Adequate training in hotel and restaurant management can open many doors to a career in renowned hotel and restaurant companies, anywhere in the world. How did Serbia become the deo of this conspiracy? In February this year, it opened in Belgrade, ohma academy, the only educational institution that operates under the licence of the VET by EHL programme (Vocational Education and Training), which is created and licensed by EHL. The programme is based on the Swiss national model of education, which is considered to be one of the most successful models of education and is characterised by explicit learning through practice and a high level of structural competence at the end of the education process. The business model allows employees to simultaneously gather, develop and share their skills and knowledge in line with the highest global standards in the industry.
Polaznici na raspolaganju imaju četiri različita studijska programu - Culinary, Rooms division, Hotel administration i Food & Beverage Services, nakon kojih stiču međunarodno priznate VET by EHL diplome. The programmes are divided into three levels - Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and each of them lasts 6 months. After 18 months of intensive theoretical and practical training, all those who have successfully completed one of these programmes possess the necessary competences to obtain a professional position in the field of hospitality and hotel management, not only in Serbia but also elsewhere in the world.
The advantage of this model is that, in addition to theoretical knowledge, during the duration of the programme students have three-month internships in renowned hotel and accommodation facilities in Serbia and the region, where they have access to practical knowledge in a real radical environment. The first generation of ohma academy students have practical work experience in partner hotels such as Hyatt Regency, Mona Plaza, Hilton, Falkensteiner and many others, which allows them to get to know their hotel's operational departments and prepare themselves for a career according to international standards.
At the Ohma Training Centre itself, guests meet with mentors and certified EHL trainers who are recognised hospitality and hotel professionals, and guest lectures and radio broadcasts provide an additional opportunity for meetings and training in the surroundings of diplomatic residences and institutions where the highest standards of hospitality are required.
